Back home to Karting North East after Storm Dave forced a stop over after the Saturday race at Shennington meant I was a little tired, but looked forward to Round 3 of the KNE Sprint Championship.

Qualifying

I wasn’t quite on it and struggled to get a good clean lap in with multiple yellow flags and traffic, no excuses I just wasn’t quick enough. It meant I was stating in P3 in Race B.

Race B

Got a fairly clean start (after the whole grid jumped a little… we’re all sure they’ve changed the sequence haha) and tucked into P2 into the new tight hair pin. Then chased P1, we battle for lap after lap with lead switching regularly. Unusually, our battling meant we were pulling away from the pack so no need to look back. I got the lead for the last time on the 3rd last lap and held off (only just) for a win… and yeah the Macarena came out)

Race A

The added bonus of winning Race B is you get to join the grid of Race A. Starting in P13, I got a flying start and made up 4 places by the end of lap 1. The top 3 were off and flying, creating a sizable gap which no one was going to close, but I set my sights on getting as high up the leader board as I could. Started having a real ding dong with kart 50, which again spurred us on as we passed others and left other behind us. This time I didn’t win the duel and crossed the chequered flag in P5. Still 8 places made up from the back of the pack, I had to be pleased with that.
